graceful bow to close for a multi-million
dollar renovation that will return the
iconic hotel to a new standard of luxury and

Luxury Collection properties – The Royal
Hawaiian is internationally recognized as
among the world’s finest, with its
magnificent Moorish architecture,
spectacular setting and celebrated history.
From the moment it first opened its doors on
a pristine expanse of Waikiki Beach in
February 1927, The Royal Hawaiian ushered in
a new standard of exotic luxury. Located on
the legendary site once known as Helumoa to
Hawaiians, the hotel became a magnet for
Hollywood’s elite and distinguished guests
from around the globe - its enveloping pink
glow reflected both the radiant beauty of
Hawaii’s spirit and the essence of indulgent
escape. When the hotel reopens in January
2009, The Royal Hawaiian will provide an
