From their lanais guests can watch humpback whales in the winter and a variety of sea life including dolphins, turtles, and rays that inhabit a reef just off-shore. - Renovation: As of September 2008, Sheraton Waikiki has begun implementing more exciting changes. The enhancements currently in progress include the new resort pool between Royal Hawaiian Hotel and Sheraton Waikiki. This pool is planned as the largest resort pool in Waikiki complete with water slide, kids play area, interactive fountains and whirlpools. This pool is scheduled to be completed in December 2008. The Current pool and Sandbar remain open and fully functional. The Diamond Head side of the main lobby is undergoing a fresh enhancement to open up the area and encompass a stunning view of Diamond Head Crater. This enhancement is scheduled to be completed in February 2009.
